Car won't start
Hey I really need help. I just got a 1988 rx-7 just the other day and i have no idea why it doesn't start. I change my spark plug, but i really don't know if i installed them correctly. It wants to start, but so far from it like if it has no fuel or something. I think it might be my fuel system. I really don't know what I am doing. So please anyone that can help me and keep me from messing up such a beautiful machine.

Ok, did you check for spark? Take one of the spark plug wires off and put a spare spark plug in the wire. Lay the threaded part of the spark plug against something metal (like the bolts on your strut tower) ... Crank the car and see if the spark plug is sparking. If so, then
Make sure your Fuel Pump is running. Three is a little yellow 2 wire connector in between the airbox, and the passenger side strut tower. make a little jumper wire and stick it in both sides of that connector. That will make your fuel pump run (assuming the pump is good). Try starting it and post your results.

Ok so i check the plugs turns out i had four L on the car so i went back and got two T and I checked them and tested them. Good to go...Only thing that wasn't really the problem. The fuel pump works. I had to replace a hoes because it was leaking gas. It wants to start, its like right there but no dice. I called a couple of my buddies to help me out we couldn't figure it out. I think that the engine is flooded with gas. We push started it and it started up for like 2 seconds then went dead. White smoke came out from the exhauts. We sprayed some starter fluid up the intake and nothing. Can it be my battery because it get drained pretty fast. Can it be the injectors? what about oil? please if you have any ideas let me know. We really got excited went it fired up for those 2 second. My buddies and I are just waiting to get the rx-7 running. Help me out please

It might be your battery. I know I had trouble starting my car a couple days ago because of it. The battery wasn't dead, but it wasn't charged enough to start (don't ask me why), and it helped the car alot when I got jumped. After that, I let the car run for about 10-15 mins to charge the batter, and it hasn't had trouble starting since. I just gotta figure out a way to start it without having my foot on the gas... *lol*

A high mileage rotary takes a strong battery with good connections to spin fast enough to start.
Once a rotary gets flooded good, the fuel washes off the lube needed to seal compression.
You may have to squirt some Marvel mystery oil or 2-stroke oil in the leading plug holes to get it going.

Alright so it was a good day today. We push started my rx-7 with my buddy's truck. I popped the clutch and there it went. It start up but i had to step on the gas every2 seconds which was tiring. After a while of doing that it ran normal for the most part. It runs now but I have to step into the accelerator to start it. It starts to stall when i floor the gas pedal and it dies sometimes when I make complete stops. I changed the oil but the meter says no pressure. I think the meter is busted. Other than that the car starts, it seems to overheat but the meter doesn't show that it is. It has 2 yr old gas in it. I think thats what might cause it to not idle itself so well and maybe thats why it sometimes die. So let me know what you think.

Drain the 2 year old gas!!!!!! Thats no good, since it ran out of the whats it call... Fumes thing of a boober. If it says no pressure check the oil pressure sending unit, more then likely half or more than half the time the connector falls off of it. Its a yellow wire with a red line. If that isn't it, it could be the oil pressure gauge its self. But if all else fails just buy a mechinal gauge.

Under the gas tank (underneath your car of course) there is a screw forgot what size, unscrew it then open up your gas tank, the gas should just go right out, be sure to put a pan under it or something. You know when your injectors are bad since it would flood constantly correct me if i'm wrong guys.
