Well, a free upgrade (in my mind ) just turned into a 500$ eye candy.

My friend had 2 left over spacers from his 240SX with the studs. He asks me if I wanted them. Sure!!

So take take out the wheel to see how they fit, and they fit perfectly. So I decide to put them on. Now, I have to remove the studs to replace them with new studs. Since they are too long, they cant slide in the wheel hub.

So I try to take out the wheel hub by removing the lock nut but then, nothing...Thats where my super ninja strenght bolt thread came from....I had to go buy the 32mm socket with an impact gun....150$ or so. Now, the spindle is out. so, reading the FSM, I notice that I need a press...which I dont have. The stealership has it, so its their job now. While removing the wheel hub, both bearings seperate and I have to get new ones. So 2 x 81.24$ + 95.81$ of labor...

Tada! 500$ for 3/4 of an inch on each side.

What crap! But then again...when I think of RX-7's, the only thing I think of is 'expensive eye candy'...I don't know about you.

You can hammer out the old studs and hammer in new ones.
A machine shop will press thm in for less than a stealership.
You can get bearings from onlinemazdaparts.com for less, or through mazda competition, or from napa even.

Its not the ''pressing in studs'' that was the problem. Its pressing in the wheel hub IN the spindle. I takes about tem tons. And no way any studs londer than stock are going to slide in there.

Anyway, yes, I should get pics up soon.
