Testing TPS on S5

Ok so im testing the tps on my 91 turbo and im not sure about the readings im getting.

when i test the one tps i get a range of about .3 ohms to a max of 4.16 ohms.

the other .15 ohms to 5.15 ohms.
Both of these test are on my test bench.

correct reading should be from 1 (on car set properly) to 5 so im a little worried.

My ecu is showing an error code for both the high and low range tps so what gives?

any help appreciated

sounds like it could be a bad TPS... if its original I wouldn't be shocked if it was bad, especially since its like 16 years old almost.

I am having crazy amounts of TPS problems, so I know all about the frustrations involved with them.

I look at the FSM for a series five and read it different.

It says the narrow should read 0.8 to 1.2 K ohms throttle closed and 4.0 to 6.0 K ohms open.

Full range 0.6 k ohms to 0.9 K ohms closed and 3.4 K ohms to 5.1 K ohms full open.

Page F2-81 of the online FSM, series five..

Wow thats werid I was looking at my 91 FSM and it has absoulutly no info on the ohm range. It just tells me to use the voltage at pins 2f 2g. I used the two light method to get it set in the ball park and im going to check the ECU voltage tommorow.

Strang thing.... when i have used the two light setup on my 87 T2, if I left it plugged in when the car was running it would have the same lights on or off as before it started. On my new 91 t2 both lights come on when i turn the car on even IF i have only one on befor.
Weird.

Going to run to Radioshack for some new test leads and test the ohms on my 91 NA. Thats should give me a good idea about the other on as they are supposed to be identical

Either way it doesnt look like its in spec.

Thanks
