low-end power suggestions?

i recently bought a 88 gxl 2+2 and am planning on using it as a daily for the time being, so to make up for the weight, i'd like to compensate with some low-end power to make the drive a little more peppy....anyone know of any mods or tricks to get more power but sacrificing little gas milage? thanks.

make sure 5/6th ports are working (closed at low rpms) and use stock/restrictive exhaust

Pretty much every mod you can do is going to make your low-end worse (but improving your high-end)... except for a supercharger.

FC1000 is a cheap upgrade. Icreased my low end a noticible amount but it really shows in ported na's http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fcignition.html

Only with a bridge-port or a peripheral port... a mild street port will increase power, but once again, it will hurt your low-end (and possibly your idle).

Any porting is going to hurt low end I was just saying the fc1000 makes a more noticible difference in ported motors it makes up for some off the lost low end. I dont suggest porting for any low end gain

a free mod would be gutting out the 2 precats, you will probably notice about a 10HP gain and a noticable increase in throttle response. leave the main cat alone for the 5th/6th port actuators to still be functional. a nice true cold air intake would also help with throttle response. aside from that the other mods will just add to the upper RPM range while sacrificing bottom end somewhat.

On the other hand, you don't have to worry about slinging a rod, and the rotors are spinning at less than 3K when you're at redline, so I'd say that's a pretty good excuse to "rev the nuts off of it" (in the words of one of the Top Gear guys).

A high end exhaust & headers tuned for a rotary, a racing cat, and cold air intake cone will make the biggest difference in low end torque.

When taking off in 1st & 2nd gear at lower RPMS (0800-1500) you should notice only a slight increase in power as you approach 4500-8500rpms. If it's drastic that probably means the VDI or 5th/6th ports are not functioning correctly.

Make sure its not sucking up any hot air in the engine bay, either run it to the front out of the engine bay or build a heat shield cold are box....
