Sure come down here and you can have the second intake for TII's I make FREE. The only reason we don't have a TII intake is because there are only three TII's here. On in mexico one that MAX owns but it dead and missing ****(ECU AFM etc) and another I have only heard of.

Well really anyone that will lend us their car lol can get the intake for free but we would need it for several days and not many of you all live close to us. We just need to take some time to make sure it fits good on the TII.

Ok guys I made a graph earlier today and we got it uploaded to the website so you all can see a bit clearer what the temps were like.

All you guys need to do is used the drop down menu and go to "Performance Data" and it will be on there. It also has a little legend I made up because certain values were not at SPEED but certain situations.

Santiago

PS- You all please read throughly and all of the captions and text on the site. Some pictures NEED those captions as the are not what the final product will look like or it is part of the explenation and very importand.

I just measured the area of my stock intake "water box" in front of the radiator. 1 5/8 by 5 or 1.625 x 5 = 8.125.

The 3 inch pipe is A=r x r x pi A= 1.5 x 1.5 x 3.14 = 7.065

An inch (1.06) less flow area.

Temp less? Less air?

Waiting for Stock and Cone no cold box temps.

Interesting test. Great to have someone actually do some measurements.

If by all that data you mean to say that the 3" pipe can not flow as much as the stock box your forgeting the limitation is the AFM itself. I have already don the calculations and the pipe WILL out flow the AFM.

Those tests will come later this week.

Just remember: That I know of no intake maker has dynographs. If I can get some of our customers to send me their dyno charts I will gladly post them.
You dod not need a dyno to test mods. In fact anything that changes intake temps shouldn't be tested on a dyno anyway, because they never replicate real-world air temps and flows.

Do the acceleration testing like I said before. 0-60mph, average of six runs, three in each direction to cancel gradient and wind. Change intake and repeat. Yes it's time consuming, but anything else is not accurate enough to use as proof that your product works.

If you want people to pay money, you have to ensure they aren't buying a dud.

That duct is an oval, not a rectangle. You can't just multiply the width and height, you have to account for the rounded ends. The correct area using your mesurements is only 7.55sq.in.

That's ~7% bigger than the 3" pipe, but a flat oval like that has a greater surface area than a circle of equal area, so it won't flow quite as well as the area measurement might indicate.

Also, one of the major restrictions has been removed. The airbox itself (NOT the filter) causes a lot of the intake system's restriction. So even if the stock duct flows the same, it's still an improvement.

BTW, I'm assuming those are the inside dimensions. If they're the outside dimensions they're no good, since the wall thickness will reduce the area.

If the pressure drop through the intake were measured using a water manometer (very easy to make), then we'd really know how good it is.

Thanks for that info NZ, I plan to do those tests that you mentioned I just have to find a suitable place to do it that is generally deserted
Also I would think that the intake is not much longer than the stock box with the snorkel attached so pressure drop would not be terrible.

How do you make that manometer?
I will google it but post the info just in case I can't find out.

Do you have any temps from a stock airbox or just an open filter?

Not yet man but I will be doing that durring the week.

Ok I googled manometer and found some people that sell them(high tech ones) and they are atleast 180 dollars for the cheapo ones lol!.

I found some sites that show you how to make a U-tube manometer. Is this what you ment NZ? How would I be able to use that on the road? the water would spill!

Read this article on testing intakes. It expains how to make and use a water manometer that costs virtually nothing. No spilt water either.

Nice I am gonna go buy some soda, tubing, and a dowel.
That was even simpler than the U-tube writeup I saw.

Thanks NZ

Santaigo,

THe cool air intake looks good. I have been trying to do one for my FD. Try doing comparison 50-90MPH 3rd gear runs. The times should be a lot more consistent than 0-60 MPH. Easier on the drive train also.

Mike
