Testing Fuel pressure.question.

I am putting the Engine together in the engine bay,and I just hooked up the Fuel components( 720X4 Injectors,Lines,A/N fittings,Sard FPR,fuel Pressure gauge...Walbro 255 in the tank.replaced the fuel filter with OEM.).
Now I would like to Test the System for leaks. Can I do this?If I turn the Key to ON?(not Start.)..Do I need the AFM plugged in to do this?.
Thanks Gents.STYX.

you do not need the afm pluged in. the fuel check connector is on the right side of the engine bay near teh strut tower. the connector is yellow. turn the key to the ON position and jumper the two pins together and you will hear the pump run and it will pressurize the lines and enable you to check for leaks.

Every car freak should have a fire extinguisher in the garage, just in case.

They are cheap 'Down to the Wal-Mart.'

uh dude, the whole point of using the diagnostic checker is that you won't start a fire because the engine is off while the fuel system is running.

If you are speaking to me, then I assume you missed the part where he is working on his fuel system 'checking for leaks'. With the ignition on. That implies live electrical circuits, not to mention any other possible ignition sources in the garage-fans, A/C units (I have A/C in my garage, 98* today), radio, battery trickle chargers, etc, etc.

Are you seriously correcting me for advising a handy fire extinguisher? Really, your advice to the OP is that he shouldn't have one handy?

You don't have a fire extinguisher in your Garage, just in case? You are kidding, right? Don't make me lose all respect for you as the thoughtful man I had judged you to be.

First of all my garage contains my car and my wife's car. It is also attached to my house. My house is valuable. It is foolish to not protect it. Furthermore my house is full of all the things that I hold dear, my flat screen, my stereo, my computers, priceless family memories/mementos and my family (not necessarily valued in that order)

I have a fire extinguisher in my garage and one in the kitchen. I spent more at lunch today with a client than my two fire extinguishers cost.

If you spend a little time thinking this through, you will spend the $18-$50 and keep one in your work area.

Being a true second-genner, I bought my fire extinguisher used, at a fire sale (oh, the irony!).
Once I cleaned off the soot and some crusty foam from the nozzle, it was mounted on the wall, right above my oily rags and spare gasoline.

I'm ready.
