test drove an 86 gxl

I just got test driving an 86. Body & interior are pretty good. engine is smooth. The only thing that worries me is while driving it is rough. The car and steering wheel kinda shakes, but when I push the clutch in the shaking stops. Something in the drivetrain cuasing this? How hard would it be to fix? Thanks

Ooohhh...
Could be a few things
Could be a broken clutch disc, or plate or out of balance, out of balance or bent input shaft to the tranny, or main shaft front bearing for the tranny.
Either way the fix probably involves dropping the tranny..
Clutch disc can be had for less than 100 bucks, and you can find a used tranny for anywhere from 75-200 on this board.
EIther way, not too hard.

could be a million things because its a 1986. I guess you are trying to buy it and if so finding out what is causing the shake is important, but not as important as a compression test. Don't buy it until you get a compression test
