Well I tried to legally get tags today at the emmissions testing place in beautiful Williamson County TN. I pulled up and the lady (very nice BTW) kinda gagged on the fumes.. The car was running wonderfully and hadn't been started up in about a month. I drove 35 miles to the testing center with the top down and the wind in my hair. Life was good.
About 2 minutes into the test she requested that I bring the rpms up to 2500 and hold it.. so I did.. As I attempted to get it to settle down at 2500rpm it backfired really loud and a couple pretty big flames popped out of the mufflers.
Needless to say I failed the test something horribly and the lady actually photocopied my results so keep as a souvenier. (she claims my HC's may be the highest she's ever heard of in the state ( HC 1983 when the limit is 220)
So i am going to have to register it in a county that does not test emmisions... Just though I would share....
BTW the recipe for failing is-
Remove the emmision stuff
Block everything off
Hollow out your cat
remove your air pump
Use t2 injectors/ pump even though your car is NA......

You knew it would fail, right? Did you do that just to see how far off the charts you would be?
Come up to good old Minne-snow-ta. Governor "The Body" Ventura got rid of those sissy emission tess a few years back.

I was pretty sure it would fail... It's always fun to see how bad it is.. I usually just transfer tags around... But I thought this would be worth a laugh. I actually reside in a county that doesn't require Emmisions testing but my DL and what not are in a county that do test..
