temp gauge doesnt work

After the haltech install I get no reading from my temp gauge. Obviously this is becuase on the CPU side of the harness I cant find the female clip to plug into the temp sender unit. How can I get this to work???

Also there is one more sensor just above the temp sender to the left of the oil sender. It has a bit of oil accumulated around it....what is that? and does it need to be hooked up now that i have haltech?

Again your bumps have been deleted. Bumps are not allowed here in the 2nd gen technical section, and frankly you’re bumping every couple of hours, makes you look like an impatient child

Why do you think your questions are so much more important that anyone else’s???

And if you cut the wires off the temp sender, how are you expecting it to work??? The temp sender wires send the signal to the temp gauge in the dash... if it is not connected, the temp gauge won't work... pretty simple.

And the Temp sensor has nothing what so ever to do with the CPU. The CPU is the body computer that controls things like the door buzzer, or hazard lights.

When you removed the EGI harness you would've unplugged several connectors that joined the EFI and Front harnesses. The 7x2-pin connector has the temp gauge connection. It's a yellow/black wire. See page 50-41 in the FSM wiring diagrams; it's connecter FEM-02. Run a wire from that plug to the temp sender.

This only took me a few minutes to work this out using the wiring diagrams. I would've assumed that since you're doing a Haltech install you'd be able to figure this out. The wiring diagrams are very thorough and will help you with problems like this.

I don't remember any other sensor there...

wow, there couldnt have been a better answer, thanks Boost Creep.

My FSM is being borrow by someone else so thats why I dont have it.

I never "cut" my temp sender wire, but I assumed that the tach wire went into the CPU side harness so that most if not all the guage wires where run on that side. I'll make the connection today.

This other sensor I speak of is mounted on the corner of the block (where the top meats the side) its inbetween the oil dipstick and teh oil filter....I still dont know what it is.

thanks again.

bump!......j/k Mods

Download the wiring diagrams at least.

I know you didn't cut it, you unplugged it. This is why you need to be studying the wiring diagrams, coz you seem confused as to where everything runs to and from and what harness they're in. The tach wire is in the front harness, which isn't removed. The temp wire is in the emissions harness, which has been removed. The only items that need to be rewired when you remove the emissions harness and the wiper motor. The best way to do that is to extract their wires and plugs from the harness and plug them straight back in.

And as Mark said, the CPU has nothing to do with this discussion.

Neither do I. Got a photo? This is another reason why you need the FSM at hand. You're working blind without it. Either download what you need or get yours back ASAP.
