for 500 I would get a set of coilovers definitely, its a good deal regardless... Unless you already have a set of coil-overs or a good suspension set-up...

Just bought a set on the forum a month ago. I as well paid $500.

Havent had an Issue with them other than the fact that the rear collars are seized (which was not disclosed by the seller)

my first coilovers where HR for my 240sx, bought them used $600 back in 02.. Id walk away since there are soo many more options now in 2010 if you can save up a little more. But those where my first coilovers and i thought they where soo cool, changed the car like night and day.

Tein HR where never sold in the US.
A common issue with those is surface rust on the threads. They have been over 10+ years discontinued. Probably like 15+ years old.
Limited ride height adjustment, adjusting the spring perch is not the ideal way to adjust ride height imo since it changes the stroke/load on the springs/shock, it should be done via the lower mount perch like most of todays coilovers. And not damper adjustable. I was able to re-sell them for the same amount back in 05.

I dont know if Tein USA will rebuild those since they are so old. *typically if you wanted, tein usa can rebuild their coilovers for a fee.

Dont be in a rush to buy your first set of coilovers if they seem like a deal. Consider this like putting OLD struts/shocks on your car, better to hold off and find a newer set.
If you ever find a set of Tein HE though, those are decent. I bought a set of Tein HE from a buddy of mine who bought them new and only put a few thousand miles on them to replace those HR. I no longer have that car but I like Tein's quality, thats all i ran on that car *tension rods, tie rods and ends and the coilovers*.

If you can save another month or 2 and get a new set of something like Megans or something, have that piece of mind that they are brand new and fully adjustable.

the lower mount is stationary on HRs. I had Meagan streets on my car then sold and purchased these, The adjust ability for height in my experience were about the same.

If all you have is $500 I would say go for it, however that is the mean average cost of name brand used coils. So look around and see what you find. Who knows
