Teflon tape for fuel rail?

Well, I was just wondering, if I tapped the fuel rail to accept a barbed fitting, would it be a good idea to use teflon tape when I attach it? To avoid any leaks? Or, will it break up because of the gas that might touch it?

Thanks. Just was wondering if the gas would destroy the tape on the threaded side.

ehhhh, get locktite thread sealant... teflon tape isnt exactly made for gasoline, so chance of failure may occur.

You will need some kind of sealant. Teflon tape is not very good for straight threads in my experience. If you are using straight threads, use gasoline compatible pipe dope (teflon sealing compound) or dowty seals. Crush washers will also work if both mating surfaces are flat and dowty seals are not available.

Wasn't sure how teflon would hold up to gasoline.

If you want to know how something will hold up to gasoline, just drop it in a glass of gas and go back the next day and pull it out... I used teflon on my threads per the advice from keith at KG and I have had no problems...
