Technically another 6port turbo ?

This is going to be my 3rd 6port turbo setup and I have one question for anyone that has got it near perfect. 1st of all my past setup has been s4 n/a block, and the rest s4 TII from the front cover, to the intake manifolds and turbo. 720cc and 550cc injectors.

A little more background.... (the question is at the bottom if your bored yet)

On my 1st setup I hooked it up on the n326 ecu, n326 afm, and pressure sensor. I also was running greddy emanage. With this setup it started up, an idled perfectly. I did not drive it like this due to no, throttle cable and long story short... blew it up figuring out how a boost controller works. (Still with no throttle cable)

On my 2nd setup, the only thing changed was the n332 ecu, n318 afm, and pressure sensor. I had safc installed this time, but I ran the car for 3 or 4 months. With this ecu I could never get the car to idle correctly. It was a blast to drive and pulled really good when boost kicked in but, very frustrated by the idle.

Now for the question...

Those of you that say the car act funny once you hit boost with the N/A pressure sensor. Have you tried this while using the N/a ecu as well or are you trying a combination of the TII ecu with the N/A sensor? I could understand it not acting correctly since if you mix match the 2, but since the N/A ecu doesn't read boost anyway I don't see what the problem will be.

On this 3rd motor I will be going to a stand alone, but I just want to get this cleared up because someone is always saying what will not work without thoroughly explaining. Sorry for the long post, but hopefully someone can fill me in as well as for anyone else who wants to know this.

Thanks in advance!!!!

NA pressure sensor with an NA ECU "works", but that's only because neither component has any idea that the engine is ever running under boost. That's the problem. It's not a good idea to have the ECU blind to pressure changes. There would be no boost based fuel/timing corrections by the ECU, so you're very dependent on the SAFC doing all the work. An SAFC can only do fuel corrections, so timing will stay too far advanced. The only semi-cure is LOTS of extra fuel.

buy a stand alone, or buy a turbo car and be done with it.

Thanks, that is pretty much what I figured. I know the N/A ecu doesn't read boost, so I would be sol with the retarding the timing as the boost increased. I don't plan on doing anything with this setup, just curious to get my question answered and wanted to know if I was missing anything.

As mentioned I will be running this motor on a stand alone, and I doubt I would ever buy a turbo car or swap. Sure it would have been cheaper, but I have learned a lot, at a faster pace this way rather than buying a swap, or a turbo II and calling it a day.

What about runing an msd btm? Do these work on our cars?
