TB questions

ever since I swaped a spare TB on with the TB mod and porting I've always had problems. it doesn't like to close and will idle at 1500 half the time. the springs are too weak or something.

well today comming home it was sticking at 20%.... wasn't fun trying to get home. surprized I made it in one peice.

stock one is going back on. even if the TB mod did anything. it's not enough to lose the thermowax over.

but now my vac rack is gone. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the one line.

blue arrow looks like a damper to slow the 2nd plates down while opening. will probably come off. I'm guessing that alone will almost make the stock TB feel like one with the TB mod....

red dots. vac. controled arm to prevent the 2nd plates from opening when cold? looks like I can remove it. so I'll yank it off so I won't need the vac line? although with no line connected they appear to open.

if I remove the arm. can I just remove the lines and leave this thing there (green)?

it'll be nice to have my thermowax back!!

Not sure why so many people have problems after doing a thermowax removal/removing the secondary plates, my car always idled just fine, and always returned back to closed. My pedal feel was actually pretty stiff. If I remember right, the secondary plates are open except under vacuum. I can't remember for the life of me where that ran to, but I've seen a few cars running with no thermowax, although retaining the second throttle plates, so I assume it'll work just fine.

As long as you stay off it while she's warming up, you can remove the secondary throttle plates off of the "arm", then remove all the crap that controls the "dampning" function of said plates. The thermowax looks to be integral to the water thermo valve in the pic, I don't remember that being the case on my TB (all I've done so far is removed the throttle plates, I'll get to the rest of the associated crap one of these days)...

the weird thing is the throttle sticking open happened on the way home from looking at other cars....

I think it's mad at me and trying to kill me now

My car generally brakes after I've looked at another car (especially other rx7's), regardless, have you tried cleaning your springs? I sprayed the **** out of mine with brake parts cleaner, then some sillicon spray or whatever it's called, and that made quite a difference on my turbo, as the spring would hang up on itself, it was still pretty stiff but it'd just hang up a lot.
