TB mod question...

Can you remove the thermowax/cold start system and the coolant line without removing the secondary throttle plates?

I ask because I want to get rid of the coolant flow through the TB and free up the vacuum line on the UIM, but I don't want the possible idle problems associated with doing the TB mod.

yes you can, I removed the cold start/thermowax setup, and just removed the throttle plates by unsrewing them, and I left the peice that holds them in attached to the fast idle cam, just so I didn't have to plug any holes or anything, also I'm a lazy *** been driving around for 2 weeks now with no problems

people say it causes jumpy idle or something. I dunno, but I've heard mixed opinions on whether or not to do it.

Thanks, by the way, blackrx7. Thats what I'll do.

I guess I could pull it out and see what happens, and put it back if it has problems.

Maybe he means the lift throttle surge that sometimes happens when you remove the plates.

You can confirm if that may be an issue by just disconnecting and wiring open the 2ndary throttle plates temporarly.

Theres an idea.

Maybe I'll try that. The whole reason I'm doing this though is to fix an idle problem. I need that vacuum nipple to do it.

You've got that completely around the wrong way. Removing the thermowax is what causes idle problems, because it's job is to improve idle when cold. Removing the #2 secondary throttles has no effect on idle quality whatsoever, because the secondaries are closed anyway.
