Targa top V. T-Top

alright guys i know its more of an interior/exterior topic, but i have an FC and i wanted to get some input from some other FC owners, maybe a little brainstorming...

Targa top or T-Top conversion for our FCs....

i think i am going to attempt to make either in the not to distant future, but im just trying to figure out which one, i am leaning towards Targa top, seems a bit easier less fabrication, as well as cooler any thoughts, or suggestive measures for this attempt, i figure if a bunch of us can get our heads together it might not be to diffucult....

Peace

Zak

I've always been a fan of T-Tops. It's your car, do what you want

Convertibles already come as Targa tops, or true convertibles

i know i can do what i want, im trying to get an actual lengthy thread going just to get some participation from everyone...even if you think the idea is stupid if you can think up any type of idea that would be cool.

Zak

here is one way i was thinking, let me know thoughts, tweaks to it, etc.

Take a base model and cut out the section of roof, as well as the corresponding door piece at the top that the window rolls into, now once thats cut off, weld the door pieces straight onto the roof, or make a fiberglass targa top and just fiberglass the two together, then put on some convertable doors, (cause they lack the top of the door) then perhaps get 4 old convertable latches to lock it in place...any thoughts or suggestions of other ways?

Hmmm T-tops??? The car will have the look of an Iroc. IMO I think it's a waste of time and effort. However, if you can pull it off go for it.

my old 88 turbo had t-tops on it, i never found out who did the conversion but it was very nice(there is a funny lil story about my t-tops ill tell sometime when i find the occasion), also t-top does mean targa top but most people think of 2 individual targas when they think of the word t-top. t-bar specifically refers to 2 pieces due to the bar in the middle. just a lil bit of useless knowlage i have to offer. if u would like i still have one top that u could use as a template. ill see if i can dig it up from where ever it is.

well, if I was doing a Targa on a coupe,

my first choice I would use a vert, that I went out welded the coupe rear upper body onto so then you don;t have to worry about frame issues and any of the front or rear seals.

But if you didn't even have a vert body, and you wanted to cut a coupe, then I would still try and find a convertibles targa section, as then you can use stock seals for most of it.

T-top does not mean the same as a Targa top. Two entirely different things.
