Tall People Problems...

Oh the joys of being too big for your car.

1. Is there anyway to move the steering wheel out? (ie. towards you) Would replacing the wheel with something else help (some other car OEM or aftermarket)?

2. I want my seat lower, but don't want to fork over gobs of money for a racingseat. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

How tall are you? I am 6'2", 180 pounds and I do not fit in my convertible, so I always have the top down for head room. My AE, though, seems to have enough room for me to sit comfortably (I have yet to drive, just sit in it and make engine noises).

I am 6'1'' and with a helmet on my head is pinned against the stupid sunroof. I have to lean back my seat a couple extra notches so I feel comfortable. It sucks. I guess I'll have to fork over the money for a sparco or recaro.

hmm, I didn't think about a helmet. I can see how that would be a problem.

Cut some of the sping under the seat and that will make you sink a couple of inches. Not really spring but stuff that makes it hold you just leave the cushin and cloth. I think this will give you a couple of inches.

Snurb, how tall are you? I remember you being a preaty tall guy. I think a real racing streeing wheel would be better for us tall guys. Have you ever noticed the wheels in rally/GT type cars? The "hub" is a few inches back from the "rim." Do you understand what I am trying to say? As for seats, I too want mine a little lower, but I want to keep the rails, and the grand it would cost to put nice seats in, IMO would be better spent on a micrtech, upgraded turbo, or FMIC.

I am 6'1", and weigh 170lbs and it's a bit tight on room. With a helmet on I have to have the sunroof up, so I can have my head streight.

Am 6'5", fit perfectly without a helmet. With a helmet I didn't fit at all until I got some of the padding cut out of the bottom of the seat, and the interior joint apparently found a few spacers under the seat too. Now I can fit in with a helmet, though have to sit a little funny and the head still bangs occasionally... but at least I can get it on a track.

I'm 6'4" 205 and I fit in my TII fine. FD's are really tight, but manageable.

6'1" 250lbs.
I fit well with no helmet, but as soon as I put one on, I have to do the "ricer lean back". Getting a racing seat will solve the problem as you can mount it lower in the car. Because you're lower, the steering wheel wont be in your way then, so you can leave it stock. The problem is finding a seat that I can fit into! They are all made to fit you 150lb bastards!

I am 6'5 175lbs and i fit in fine with out a helment, although through guessing and just eye-balling it, trying to ride with a helment is gonna be a pain in the ****. so the "ricer lean back" is going to be 1 of 2 of my options, the second one being chopping off part of my leg from the knee down then grafting the foot back where the shin used to start yum

I'm 6'5". The wheel is is a few inches back from the "rim?" I know I've seen plenty of race cars that have the wheel further back, but I'm not sure how I could accomplish this.

1987RX7guy: Not a bad idea, I'll take a look at that.

Without a helmet I have the seat as far back as it goes and tilted until it won't tilt anymore. Leg room is fine, but I can't reach the wheel very well if I put my back flush in the seat. Plus I don't want to have to lean back quiet that much.

Thanks for the replies.
