No decision yet. There have been some really good points brought up on moth sides though. Let me clarify a few things too.

1. Im not considering the swap because I can't work on rotaries. Im more comfortable working on rotaries than anything else.

2. Im not lookg for "cheap" reliable power. The V8 swap, or at least the proper swap, is anything but cheap. There' no arguing that an LS! would be more reliable than a modified 13bt

Im looking to build a car that I can make a lot of power with and enjoy without worry. I know several guys with 500hp LS1 cars that daily drive them with no problems whatsoever. I dont know too many that can say the same with rotaries. I know someone will step up and say "I drive my 900 hp FD to work and back 400 miles everyday". Shut up. That's the exception, not the rule.

Here's where I am.

1. The LS1 is a better motor all things considered
2. The LS1 swap would be a more reliable option if done properly
3. The LS1 swap would be super expensive and would be an all at once build.

1. I love rotary engines and the fact that they are unque
2. The turbo rotary would be less reliable but less headache to build
3. I could build the car slowly and still drive ii if I threw a decent ported motor in it

i was in your boat for the longest time when i first got my car. basically, i looked at what would be the best bet in the long run. at that time, ill be honest, i really didnt know a whole lot about rotarys and i wanted reliability. so a LSx swap was in order. came into some money troubles and got temp. layed off at work, so that got scrapped in a hurry. during that time off i did a lot of reading, searching forums and working with what i had.

so now, where i sit, the plan is to build a frankenstein N/a motor. it may not make 400, 300 or even 200hp... but thats not what im aiming for.

i will one day build a LSx rx7 thought... you can count on that.

thats enough rambling out of me...

How much power are you looking to make? Since it's already a TII car, why not just throw in a freshened up TII for like $1.5k?

please explain to me how a v8 with more power and torque then a stock 13bt is weak.

just because someone hates v8 don't mean v8's are bad. i hate going to the doctor and dentist does that mean that doctors are bad?

Swaps are swaps, some people like them, some people don't.

V8's aren't bad, or weak, the LS engine is a monster; in the right chassis they can make any car a monster, especially one like the FC. In fact, a lightweight, good handling car like the FC makes it an ideal candidate.

The only problem that people on this forum are going to have with such a swap is this:

This is a rotary engine enthusiast website, and the FC is in my opinion (and I'm sure in others, although some may diasagree) the pinnacle of the rotary cars put into existence. Take that with the fact that these cars are becoming more and more uncommon, add a little desire to see these vehicle on the road with respect to their original intention, and voila: you get a bunch of pissed off rotorheads.

I'm with the enthusiasts. I like fast cars, but RX-7's are supposed to rotax machines. But hey, its your car. Do what you want.

Quit creating troll threads.

A straight 6 to a V8 is a little less of a stretch than a Wankel Rotary to a V8...

I'm not saying V8 7's aren't faster than **** here, just sayin' that Carroll Shelby didn't ask the AC purists what he should do to make the Cobra before he did it.

A rotory swap is going to be easier even if you go from NA to TII or vise-versa. As long as you stay with the same series (s4/s5) you do not have to rewire the entire dash.
