taking off

taking off

whats the best way to take off. should i just let it rev at 3300 and release the clutch or should i just ease into an acceleration? I have 1/4 mile @ appr. 16 sec. i know im embarrassed what are the diff ways to lower this time. i have a 1988 rx-7 gxl

you need to get into the power band so try dropping it at 4500 to 5000 it really helps so you dont get that bogg before you go you want it almost in the sweet spot but dont just drop the clutch do like a controlled drop so you keep the RRRs up but also dont burn up the clutch you should be able to run high 15s if you learn how to launch and your car runs strong

Yep, bout 5500 and dron't just drop the clutch or you'll end up tearing something up or at the least you'll just spin and get wheel hop. You need to quickly let out on it while modulating the throttle accordingly. (ie as you let out on the clutch you'll need to give it more gas, try to keep the revs up to the 5500 ish area but you will need to do it fairly quickly) Be aggressive with it. Your clutch will hate you but you will like the times.

i launched mine by revving to like 2500 rpms........any higher and i would spin or get wheel hop........i don't know the exact time i got......but i beat some mustang that says he runs low 14's.....i have an 88 T2 with mods in the sig
