Taking Mirror Apart
Ok, I got a new passanger mirror for my 89' GTU, but it's the wrong color. I need to take it apart, so I can sand, prime, and re-paint it. the problem is, I'm not sure how to take it apart
anyone ever had to do this? I'm sure it's something simple, I'm just worried about breaking the mirror. THX

If it is a manual one, then you can move the glass around and get to the screws underneath and take it apart that way.
BUT, if it is a electric....bad news...you have to take the glass off of the part that it is glued to and remove a screw underneath to be able to get at all the screws to take it apart. How do I know this, you ask? Well, I tried to do just that and found out the hard way.
I would recommend just taping over the mirror and painting around it, otherwise you will probably have to break the glass and take the mirror apart and then get another piece of glass for it.
Hope this helps!

well, the red will drive me nuts, so it looks like I'm breaking it. Lucky for me, the old mirror's glass part was fine ( there was a huge chunk out of the plactic ) so, when the time comes to replace th emirror, I'll just break the SHELL away from the old mirror and re-glue. Thanks for your help.
