well the SEARCH is your best friend. I won't be a ******** though like alot of others are on here. You need the special flywheel tool that fits into the holes of the flywheel to hold it in place and then a big *** breaker bar to break the flywheel free. I remember reading a thread somewhere about creating your own flywheel tool if you dont have the actual mazda one. Good Luck

Check on mazdatrix's website for flywheel removel procedure. I would suggest a rebuild video since this is your first time. Since is your first time i would also pay very close attention on every part you take out espeically if you are going to be reusing some of the stuff.

Take a hammer to it. Be careful not to hit the clutch surface.

P.S. Don't be a *****. Give it a good couple of hits. I used a rubber malet

Ok there is a really easy way to do this... To let ya know ahead of time, it isn't gonna make the nut pretty looking but it works... I had the same problem as you and I went on here and also posted and the easiest way is to take a club hammer and a chisel. Here is what you do... (The nut is torqued out to like a zillion lbs LOL) basically use the hammer to pound the crap out of the chisel to turn the nut. Really easy!!! Though the nut isn't gonna look pretty and you do the same thing when putting it back...

No! (this is said in the nicest way) It might work sometimes but what if it doesn't this time? You would be stuck with a chewed up flywheel nut. http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/flywheelremoval.htm

first thing to do is heat the nut with a torch to burn off any thread lock and loosen the nut

you can use the flywheel removal tool as stated above...

what i did was put the engine on the ground, and i drilled 2 holes into a long piece of metal i had laying around (about 1/4" thick and 1" wide). i then bolted that metal to the flywheel using the holes for the clutch cover.

As you turn the engine the metal comes in contact with the ground, and stops the flywheel/engine from turning.

then i stepped on the wrench, serious torque on that thing!

This is also well covered in the FAQ sticky. The FAQ should be the first place you check when you want to find information. Next is the Archives as commonly asked questions have archived topics (plus there is a lot of other interesting stuff). Failing that, a search for something like "flywheel removal" would certainly turn up the many hundreds of past discussions.
