Taillights no workie
Just got my car back from a rebuild. The car had not been run for sometime before this. The car runs great but when I flip the headlights on the tails do not come on. I can hit the brakes and the lights kick on as well as the reverse lights. I have a few visible wires that are just hanging in the back hatch.
Black with grey (able to see both ends)
Twisted wires (blue and blue/orange). Ends of wire are just exposed.
One big male harness (yellow/blue yellow/green black/red yellow/red) Don't see anything that this would fit in.
the smaller male harness just has a green and blue wire plugged in
Looking at the haynes manual but this **** makes no sense to me. I don't see anything that shows those colors. I'm just confused and have no clue what I should be really looking at. So if anyone can give me a hand with this it would be much appreciated.

See if your also missing the front and rear side lights. If so, then you have a light switch gone bad or a headlight switch harness gone bad. To prove this, remove the elect plug from the headlight switch and look to see if there's any burnt pins/sockets in the Plug. Especiall look at the green/white wire and the red/black and then.........I forget the other color. All of which are in one corner of the elect plug.
Also do a SEARCH for HARNESS and ICEMARK.

So I just checked the side markers out and the front driver side light is on....all others are off. Gonna check out your recommendation for the harness.

Wellllllll, all the side marker lights and tail lights would have to be out for it to be the switch or the harness. I didn't mean to lead you astray.
The Tail lights, side markers etc are fed by a RED wire with BLACK stripe. Jpg attached. Look at the attached jpg and you will see a R/B wire at each light. So look for those wires being on/off.
The one side light being on is what makes me think it's not the harness or switch. By the way, see if your glove box light works or not. It's tied to the same circuit. See jpg for what I mean.
Just talking about the rear lights..........it seems the nearest connector other than the ones on the lights themselves, is near the drivers left foot called X-23. Thats where the Rear harness mates with the Front harness.

The R/B feed wire runs from the switch to front parking and front side lights. So if on works, all should work. Unless the connector is off the particular light or the bulbs are out/bad.
That R/B wire is in the Front harness. It mates with the Rear harness near and in front of your left foot. From there the R/B runs to the rear end of the car and spits off to each of the lights that are not working. All R/B colored wires. A digital meter at each R/B wire should tell if your gettting power back there or not.
The other wires you mentioned and plug are not related to the lights being off.

Attached is a jpg of the plug that carries the R/B wire to the rear of the car. It's near the left foot area and a bit fwd of that.
Series five
There's a right rear speaker plug with a L and LO wires.

wanted to give thanks to hailers and all those that chimed in. figured the wiring out. previous owner hacked the wiring up. found the red/black wire in the footwell area spliced with another wire. had to get that set back together. looks like i have quite a bit of research to see how much they screwed the wiring. thanks again for the help.
