Tachometer
My 90 FC Vert (automatic) stalls quite frequently when backing out and the like. So I've tried following the recommended (FAQ'd) idle setting procedures. Couple of quick questions:
1) on 90's you ground the initial set connector. on 88's and earlier that connector is green. On my 90 there is a green single female as well as a blue female connector. Is it just the green one that is the initial set connector?
2) I used my antique (it advertises that it is "solid state") Sears engine analyzer for which I have no instructions. I put the inductive pickup on one of the spark plug wires and found that I had to also hook the Dwell/Volts connection to the battery. Then, it was reading the RPM at twice what the instrument panel tach was reading.
Is that normal?
Thanks,
Jim

initial set connector
On the 90 S5 FCs, is the isc the single green connector on the drivers side near the battery or the single green connector on the passenger side behind the air box?
I grounded both (not at the same time) but couldn't get the idle above 600. I backed the throttle screw so far back that the o-ring was an 1/8th of an inch out of the hole. If I turn it all the way in the engine will slow and die.
Setting the throttle is the first step in the diagnosing rough idles. Should I skip it and move to the next step? I've already done the 2 LED method on the TPS.
