Tach ahead of engine?

I was just looking at my SAFC II today and I noticed that my tachometer was almost 500rpm ahead of my engine's actual RPM. I could tell because the SAFC II reads a correct 750rpm idle when warmed up, but the tach was reading above 1200. Anyone know what's up with that? It doesn't really bug me, but I'd like to take care of it if I could.

Does the SAFC "know" that it's dealing with a rotary's ignition system?

I'm pretty positive that it's spot on. It sounds just right. It's like my tachometer has been getting more and more off as time goes on. It used to be only 200rpm behind the engine, but now the gap has seemingly increased to 500rpm.
