T2 tranny casing Q?

i just bought a S4 t2 tranny not too long ago and i noticed that it has a different casing and mounting bracket than my original one. the new tranny appears to have more ribs in the center casing, however the mounts line up and the driveshaft fits. i dont have motor in yet so i do not the gearing.

did t2 tranny's come in more than one casing design??

thanks,
AL..

All the US-spec ones should be the same - all ribbed.&nbsp We've found some of the J-spec ones have smooth cases - no ribs.
