t2 swap or turbo na?

ive been thinking about the t2 swap for a while now, and i was wondering should i do that swap or just turbo the na. i know i need a motor, trans, ecu, wire harness, driveshaft, rearend, axles and throttle cable. i hear i can just take the intake and exhaust manifolds and just turbo that. but i want like 300-400whp. just so i can take down the local **** with the sr'd 240s. any assistance is appreciated. again thanks.

You can turbo the NA or install a turbo II engine and get 300WHP. To get this, you will probably need an standalone ECU either way. Some have obtained 300 WHP with a safc II and a stock ecu with a fuel-cut defensor, but the standalone is probably easier.

If you want to risk eBay purchases (which I would not recommend), you could get one of those $1,000 'j-spec' turbo II engines and put that in your car.

Bottom line:
205 hp = pretty easy to do it yourself with very little tuning knowlege
250 WHP = possible to do it yourself with some mechanical changes (porting.)
300 WHP = upper limit of stock components
400 WHP = almost certainly will need to learn how to tune engines or hire a professional tuner.

205 hp is really pretty fast in a 2,700 pound car.

There are others with more experiance that can help you further than this.
