ive been reading up on the differences of the s4 motors and the s5 motors. since it seems the s5 motors performs better and can handle more power, is it possible to put a s5 t2 into my s4 Rx7 GXL?

yes, you just have to have all the respective parts to accompany the s5 TII motor..

**Note that there is a BIG difference between the 87-88 turbo parts that fit 86-88 nonturbo cars, and the 89-91 turbo parts that fit 89-91 NA cars. IT is not adviseable to try and mix and match any of these parts. IF you have an 86-88 (s4) car, you need to obtain all 87-88 matching turbo II stock parts for use in the car. IF you have an 89-91 (s5) car, you need to obtain al the 89-91 matching parts for use in your car. Note also that 89-91 turbo parts are becoming EXTREMELY RARE AND EXPENSIVE. IT is much easier to find and afford all the 87-88 turbo parts in contrast to the 89-91 parts.**--rotary resurrection.

Yes, you can put the series five engine in a series four non turbo.
NEVER use a turbo EM harness on a non turbo car unless you know how to swap/repin wires extensively. Use the stock series four non turbo EM harness.
Buy a hybrid drive shaft from a place like MAZDATRIX or a local fabricator. The turbo one won't fit the rear end.
You can use the non turbo rear end as long as you don't do salm bang dump the clutch burnouts.
You'l need a turbo transmission mount also. The non turbo one won't fit a trubo transmission. Not a big deal.
Yiou NEED a SERIES FOUR, turbo afm and turbo pressure sensor plus turbo ECU. Note the words *Series four*. You need them because the series five ECU won't pin to the series four ECU plugs much less the two mating plugs of the EM harness that mate to the Front non turbo harness. (I never said it can't be done (using series five EM harness and ECU), but if your not handy with wire strippers, crimpers and a knowledge of series four vs series five wiring, forget it).

Plus if you used the series five engine in the series four with series four ECU, the electric omp on the series five engine would have to be addressed. Either by pre-mixing or changing the series five engines front cover to series four tubo front cover although there are a couple of alternatives out there.
