t2 rebuild with na parts q
im rebuilding my turbo motor and one housing was bad so im using an na one. my question is this... there is a water jacket that is open on the turbo housings to cool the turbo. it runs through the lim to a hard line to the turbo on the rear housing. but i can not see why the front housing needs the water jacket opened up. can i just use the na housing up front instead of drilling it out? or is the water passage used for something on the front housing too?
The FD housings don't have that coolant passage on the rear housing also and they are a popular upgrade for turbo 13bs. I'm just pulling the coolant off the top of the rear iron and it's working just fine.

The water goes nowhere on the front turboii rotor housing. Pickup your intake manifold and you'll see that. There is only a passage for the rear rotor housing.
Passage that was here Deleted.
