A whole bunch of ppl are saying to get a N/A for a first car. why? im 16, almost 17. driven a truck RWD and one of the reasons is becuz of RWD? anyways ....for a first rotary should i get a T2 or a n/a? and also...my friend has a T2 but if i can get a n/a how much money would i have to spend to be able to beat the t2? and also what parts would i have to get?

Please help me out before i buy the wrong car.

if you plan on beating a t2 without a n/a setup, you would have to drop a lot of cash in your car. There are a couple people with n/a's that are sucking every little bit of power they can from the stock motor, but they have a lot of experience.

get a t2, THEN figure out how to beat your friend

The main reasons that people try and stray away new drivers from a Turbo2, is 1) Lack of matuity (lets face it, most kids that age are far from competent)
And 2 ) Lack of skill/experience to control the car. Now a stock Turbo 2 has anywhere from 182-200HP. That isnt very much, but still decently quick. As soon as you start upgrading, the car can become very quick, and also very unstable for an inexperienced driver. My turbo2 would kick sideways in 3rd gear on a damp road. Middle of a turn if given too much gas the rear end would swing out. Nowadays that is a fun thing for me, as I have been driving my FC for ~4 years, and can control the car very well. But I guarantee, that if I wouldve had the car when I was 16, it would be in a ditch, and I would be in the hospital. My N/A on the other hand is much more predictable. Yes it can get squirrly and sideways sometimes, but is much easier to control, and seems to be more forgiving. I wont stray away a younger person from a Turbo2...but the need to be very mature and smart about what they are doing. It isnt a game, you can hurt and kill yourself, or more importantly others. No time to be cocky and say " I am a great driver and can handle anything"...

I live in Nebraska, HPram99. Anyways ...I've driven in snow and rain in my truck and yes i know its squirrly with a 178CI V6 that only has like 100 hp if that....just think with a 200 hp car but anyways what should i do ....i have an option for a n/a and a TII and i dont want to buy the "wrong" decision....

Get a n/a first then go T2 when u learn how to control it. Beside IMHO, n/a is just as fun or better then a turbo II for daily driver.

Nope..S5 N/A had 160HP.. The S4 turbo2 had 182..

My only comments on the issue are not age based, you need to look inside yourself and decide if you have the responsibility to handle the Turbo both physically and financialy....

If not taken care of both rotary engines can be killed easily...

The TII is more expensive to Mod reliably and easier to break due to its power and capabilties, BUT its potential is much greater when looking for hard acceleration and HP...

I personnaly think that either one handles awesome when setup correctly.

If your a farm boy then your more than likely able to use a wrench and work on your own engines but parts for these cars (BOTH) can be very expensive. Depending on mileage and previous owner maintenance and driving habits you will need to have a gear head that KNOWS RX-7's take a look at both cars....

Depending on price and vehicle condition I would make a decision... If the turbo is bad or going bad your looking at more money to fix...

Oh yea... The turbo also has a terrible side effect... It constantly calls to you for more mods and upgrades... Hehehe it can become an addiction like gambling!!!

The N/A is generally thought of as a more reliable car on these forums, but I think alot of that is based on the maintenance and love given to them, but the power of the TII does put more stress on the engine parts and requires more general care.

You will also want to run High Test Gas in the TII... That can get expensive when you drive alot of miles, about $4 a tank difference, and depending on the mods the car has N/A or Turbo it may not get Honda Civic MPG...

My N/A was getting about 25-30 MPG highway depending how deep I put my foot into the Throttle Body... not to many TII's are getting that unless tuned real well from what I have read here and mostly for guys with stand alone ECU's who program every last ounce of fuel through the engine...

And the last thing, turbo power is not as linear as the N/A... It can come on real strong depending on the turbo lag and other conditions with the car... Can make snow driving REAL interesting.....

Thanks AFSOC....so what ur saying is a person who makes 7.00hr at krispy kreme probably should get the n/a due to cheaper parts and is kinda more reliable? i wouldnt mind getting the n/a as long as i can smoke some ghey *** civics who try to "pimp" their ride and also be able to run like a 10.4 1/8 mile

depending on YOUR money management, the condition of the car when you get it, the love you give it, and how you drive it would be all deciding factors...

If you have self control the the TII would be fine, IF it is good when you get it and take care of it. The parts cost about the same for both cars... EXCEPT for the additional parts that are required for a turbo...

A N/A can be made quite quick with some simple mods and smart tuning... Should beat the average APC Civic

You can do a search on 1/8 times for the N/A... I never ran mine at the strip... But there are some fast SOB's on here with N/A's....

N/A's do cost more to get HIGH HP numbers compared to the TII, thats $ to gain...

I would do alot of reading on the board, IGNORE the nays sayers (ie anti N/A or anti TII) its quite surprising how many here are very passionate about their cars and the flames that are thrown over the N/A vs. TII debate....

Do a search on mods or N/A mods to get an idea then do the same for the TII

I think you should just get a n/a, it is much more reliable, and cheaper to repair. TRUST me, trying to find parts for rexx is hard enough in nebraska, I doubt you want to deal with the extra hassle of a turbo. hell, I had to buy my headlights online! dealers don't even have them in stock...

I live in blair, yet I am rarely home. I used to work in bellevue (Tristar distributing, behind newyork burrito)
I'm allways in omaha though. Every rex owner I know lives in bellevue. lol.

I think i should get a n/a now seeing that its cheaper....reliable....and it will help me learn to drive a RWD with more hp than my truck. Anyways whut should i offer this kid for his n/a...im not sure whut model it is....and it has the gayest wing on his car....(that will be coming off) he paid 1700 i think for it....im hoping its the sport or the GXL
