T2 LSD into NA Rear End

I know that I could take a T2 rear end with half shafts and do that type of swap but I found just the LSD out of a T2 rear end.

Can you take just the LSD out of the T2 rear end and swap it into the NA rear end?

Just haven't messed with the rear ends enough to know if that swap is possible.

Thanks,
Mike

No, you cannot just swap the TII LSD. You must have the TII half shafts to go with it. The TII LSD is wider than the N/A LSD. Meaning the half shafts from the TII LSD are shorter. The N/A half shafts are longer. You will need a TII driveshaft also... unless you modify the N/A driveshaft.

I have a T2 driveshaft already that I had extra.

I don't mean the full rear end swap as I know how to do that. I mean take the LSD out of the T2 rear end.....put it into the rear end of the NA. Basically putting the T2 LSD into the rear end housing of the NA.

I know exactly what you meant. Yeah, it can be done. You can do it... but you asked if you needed the TII half shafts. You need the TII halfshafts for the TII LSD.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

It CANNOT be done. The TII and NA diffs are different sized, you need the whole rear end unit, one will not fit in the other, the NA has a 7" R&P, the TII has an 8" R&P.

Thanks. I figured I needed the halfshafts and such just wasnt sure on clearance since the T2 housing was larger than the NA.

Thanks,
Mike
