I have about 3 different ecu's I've bought over the years still doing my swap. One of them can't remember the model # says it has a higher redline than others but is for s5 mine is s4. if all they do is manage fuel or boost levels what is so so different and why is haltech seem so good?
I know haltech you have to make your own harness right? get all new sensors but is it that much better? why can't I get high pressure fuel pump , fuel pressure regulator and manual boost controller and rig up something that'll work? do I need bigger injectos as well for primary/ secondary?. The motor I have is s4 t2 stock turbo. block off plates on everthing .so all I need is just injectors and map sensor hooked up to harness or am I forgetting something oh... MAF but if I had haltech wouldn't need MAF right? well help me out this project of my has been started and stopped a few times. want to be complete so I can take my s4 to SS 14 this year. last year had to drive a passat booo!! but took my family though they had fun .

NA ecu can't read boost and is set to control NA injectors. If you try running NA ecu on a turbo motor, you will blow it. And with the T2 ecu you should make sure to have the T2 AFM and MAP sensor, as they are calibrated differently and the NA MAP sensor can't read boost.

With a Haltek, you don't need the AFM and do need to make a harness.

You could theoretically just get a high flow pump and a regulator and some big *** injectors and dump fuel into the engine, but it will run like crap. You need a way to control fuel and an AF meter to know where you're at. A piggy-back system works, but again only use the T2 electronics.

Yes that is a coolant nipple in the first pic.

Finally some pro-tips:
1) SEARCH!!! the advance search feature here is your very best friend as everything for this swap has been covered hundreds of times before.
2) READ!! and read some more. Read every thread you come across that has even the slightest to do with what you are doing. You will come across answers you never knew you needed. When you think you've read enough, you're about half way there.

Running boost involves more than just fuel and air. You need the ability to change the timing maps...which is why you need the t2 ecu/sensors....or a standalone like haltech.

The stock ECU is good for just one thing: the stock engine. Once you start changing things, you will end up with "band aids" and whatever piggy back you can throw on it. It may run, but it will get ugly....
