t2 blown?

hey guys had a question today i was driving my t2 and everything was goin fine up until out of nowhere the engine lost power!!!! i checked to see if it ws overheated but everything was good with cooling but when i checked the oil it was dry as **** my turbo hotside was red hot and it smelled like burnt clutch i was wondering if there is a low oil engine cut off or did i blow or seize my engine? it cranks but sounds like there is no compression

It is probably toast. Unless you are real lucky, the turbo bearings are probably shredded and your eccentric shaft probably looks like a child took a dremel tool to it. Generally, catalytic converter restriction doesn't just show up all of the sudden.

Low oil=BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!! which is hard to miss.

Check compression and catalytic converter as mentioned above.

Unfortunately because our cars are 20 years old we cant say for sure that our warning buzzers are completely functional. For example I found out 1 year later after purchasing my 87 sport that my coolant buzzer was non-functioning, and that ended in catastrophe. Also my fault for not checking my coolant and oil levels during my routine checks every 2-3 months. Unfortunate but effective learning experiences.

Also during compression check, check to see if you can regain compression by adding/changing the oil in your engine, pull out your spark plugs and give them a good cleaning, and while they are out put a dab of oil in the spark plug holes. Pull out your EGI fuse and crank a few times for a few seconds to build up oil pressure and get some of those oil starved items some lubrication. Reinsert your EGI fuse and start the car.

If it works Good for you awesome. But be sure to monitor how your engine behaves for the next month or so, you could have already damaged some parts that may not manifest until later on.

When all is done, do your maintenance check and make sure you do it regularly and be sure to record it for future reference.
