Yes, 1 + 1 = 2. Hence TII (T2) or the 2nd Generation RX7 Turbo....the 2 stands for sencond gen

They made a first generation turbo (Japan only), so when they made this second turbo car, it was aptly named "Turbo II"

BoostedRotors is correct. The TII (Turbo II) was so named because they produced a 12A turbo powered 1st gen which was a (mostly) Japan only car.

The TII has one turbo. It is the 3rd gen (FD, '93-present) that has the twin turbo setup.

You're all wrong. T2 was named after the Terminator. Sheesh, get your facts straight!

I would like to point out that while the TII technically has only one turbo, the turbo does have two scrolls which are activated sequentially. Therefore, it is similar to having two sequential turbos. For those with a good imagination, think of having a turbocharger composed of one turbine wheel which spins a two-stage compressor wheel.

Then that would be somewhat comparable to running a sequentially turbocharged engine non-sequentally, in that it would have more lag, less efficiency, but higher maximum airflow.

Hehehe, you 86'd your 88 "7".
