T04e + Tmic=??

I am looking at possibly getting a new turbo, at first I was going to just upgrade to the S5, but now I am looking at other options.

Really I am not looking to make alot of power, but I just really reduce thermal stress due to the restriction of the S4 turbo. Sure I wouldn't mind making 350++ RWHP but I more or less care MORE about reliablity. So how bad would it be to run a T04E with a TMIC, SAFCII, and FCD. How is the spoll up compared to the S4 and S5 turbos? I would prolly soon after go with a V-Mount or if that is to troublesome just the plain old FMIC.

Keep the top mount and just add water injection. I've always wondered if it would work out...

I have always wondered this my self. It is one of my TII goals.

Seeing if the TMIC downsides can be overcome by water injection. Using the Haltech to tune the water. Using an Aquamist system.

Water injection DOES work, but it's a pain in the *** to always make sure you have enough water, adds weight, takes up space, and is one more thing you have to worry about.

If you are firm set against a front mount, or want to keep the TMIC but don't mind a little fabrication I'd advocate using the stock care in an air to water intercooler. Air to water intercoolers are more efficient than an huge air to air intercooler.

Hmmm Would you say the T04E is pointless for what IO am lookign to do? My other idea is to upgrade to the S5 turbo and get the new RE-Amemiya SS manifold that fits it...

How does the water injection work?

If you can keep the boost under 10psi or so, you should be fine.

Why bother with a SS manifold if you can use the stock s5 one? And I wouldn't worry about the "thermal stress" the stock turbine puts on the engine. Usually when people are concerned about it, its because they're running much higher boost than stock on some sort of hybrid.

Water injection is when water is sprayed into the intake along with the gas, which lowers the temperature, and prevents detonation. You can make a homemade kit for fairly cheap, but if you go for something decent like an Aquamist kit, it'll probably cost you as much as an FMIC.

Water injection should not be used to tune a car. A car should be tune without the water injection and then added after tuning. Can u imagine using water injection and the pump seizes on boost, or the jets fail or you run out of water.. An aquamist kit is like 500 dollars so its not that expensive.

Water injection tuned to prevent detonation is waiting for destruction. its just a bandaid. When taken off it bleeds and when added it doesn't. if you send money to get an aquamist system your better off getting an FMIC.

I really do not understand how water injection is any more risky than fuel injection.

A fuel injector can fail. It can get clogged. A fuel pump can fail. The wires to the fuel pump can be cut.

I would say that you would be fine running water. I believe the better aquamist systems have fail safes in the system for a clogged injector or a failed pump or low water level.

If water injection was such a bandaid why did the military use it so much on the large radial engines in WWII? I am sure when the pilots went to full power for take off they did not believe their water injection was a band aid. I was a way to get more power on bad fuel from the enigne. And not have it destroy it's self.

I think what Eraumazda is trying to say is that you should water injection more as extra insurance. Have everything already set up to be reliable and just add the WI as an extra precaution. If you tuned with your WI you would not be able to run to potential without it. I think it would be wise to tune without it and then tune with it. Find a safe spot in between which doesnt require that the WI be in use but also so gains could be had if used in conjunction.

You can tell when your running empty on fuel, but not water.

It is really simple to retrofit a float type guage into the water tank. Not that I have ever done any of this though

I will just have to chill until I do
