Question T04E-46 - Bad choice ?

Well, I already have one so I am stuck with it. However, I was looking at the compressor map for that turbo and it seems like it might be less than ideal for the engine.

The turbo is a T04E-46 with an 8° exhaust clip in a stock turbo housing. The engine has been streetported.

Asuming, I run 13psi that would (14.7 + 13) / 14.7 = 1.88 Pressure ratio.
I heard some where a ported rotary flows about 34 lbs/min

So, using that and looking at the map it seems like the engine is to much for that turbo. Am I reading that right?

At lower boost the turbo really seems like a bad choice.

Yep, it's a bit on the small side.
At around 15psi, it'll barely make 300...maybe 350hp max at the wheels.

Sounds like the majestic upgrade? If you look on turbonetics' site, you can see that the to4e-46 really isn't that big of a compressor. Just about equal to a t5/t6 from the to4b series. You might be able to reach 280rwhp.

Is that the stock exhuast wheel? I always thought they stuck a stage III t3 turbine in.

Ted, 350?? I think 300 to the wheels would be awesome on this set up, but I don't see it happening very easily?

Edit - th ct26 is somewhat similar in size to a ht18, of course the 13b and 3sgte are just a slight bit different....

Crank it up to 20-25psi - it's going to be close.

Ah, I kept assuming it was a full turbo, but after rereading it...you're right, it's a compressor upgrade / hybrid.
