Symptoms of a blown engine..
All:
I believe I blew my motor last night as the vaccum is reading -10psi at idle and the idle is loping. If I take it past 2000rpms the car just dies. This happened from racing it past redline and hearing the car backfire as a result of the ignition cut. All indications point to a bad motor, except one. There is no smoke coming from the exhaust.
Any comments? Maybe a vaccum line came off?

You just blew your new engine?
I would check to see if everything is on nice and tight and nothing is missing.
Doing high RPM runs tends to disconnect my fuel injection harness. Thats why I have the engine chained down and using comp mounts!

Mine still has no smoke after 600+kms (400 miles) of driving. I've been mean to it too. Test the compression, it's the only way I know of being 100% sure. (people who know have other ways too) At first it made the proper sounds when the plugs were removed, but now it sounds bad. I can take it to redline.
