switching a s5 na with a s5 turbo

i have a 1989 gxl na, and a 1989 turbo tII. i love both cars but the body on the TII is not very good. so i was thinking about putting the t2 engine and tranny into the gxl.

i guess my question is how hard would this be?

is it as simple at switching engines, trannies and ecu's? noting this is still not excatly a simple thing. but would that work?

You can swap the engine and transmission... You will also have to swap the driveshaft, half shafts, differential, ECU, AFM, and boost sensor.

This is somewhat easy. Are you keeping emissions, though?

swap the whole drivetrain and engine related electronics. it could easily be done in a weekend. maybe in one day if you are good.

I guess what I should have asked is do they bolt up directly to each other? Do all of the parts have the same mounts ? I know I will have to replace every engine and tranny related part but I wanted to know if say the na tranny mounts are in a different place compared to the t2 tranny

Technically you don't HAVE to replace anything but the engine.

But yes, all mounts are the same. I think the FAQ says that, and has a writeup too.

the same series is the easiest swap. everything bolts up just fine. if your T2 harness is bad you can use your n/a no problem. your T2 cluster will plug right in and work too.
