Switching Acuator Valve
okay, reassembling my TII and i have come across yet another decision point. really its more like there should be something there, it isnt and i want to know if i should put what isnt there back.
so this time is the switching acuator valve on the turbocharger. I know that it is supposed to help the turbo spool sooner, but the guy who owned it before me removed it. ive read a little in what ive searched but still cant get a good idea. should i reinstall it? is there any real preformance advantage in using it? I think the s5 turbos did not utilize the setup so im not sure what to think about it. Thoughts, comments, etc?

my TII was torn apart by the p[revious owner. real bad. he had it carbed, didnt run right, sold it to me without the carb parts OR half of the EFI parts!!!! so i have been sort of connecting the dots with everything. hell, he didnt even give me the interior!

Ok so at this point is it pluged and tapped or are the arm and flapper still in the manifold just without the actuator?? Because how it works is the vacuum line to the solenoid holds the flapper closed which allows less exhaust through the turbo creating more backpressure to spool your turbo and once you get around 2500 the vacuum opens the flapper which allows more exhaust flow creating better mid and top end. You can completely remove the system and just tap it with a 1/4 ntp and a 1/4 plug after removing the flapper, arm, and actuator. Plock off the nipple the vacuum line comes froma nd yoru done. What you will loose by removing the this flapper is a little low end(below 2500 rpm) spool up but for me it was worth it because when I race people I take it up to around 4500 rpms anyways. Here is the link for removing and getting rid of the setup. And I assume as it is right now you are loosing a little spool up because the arm is free flowing so exhaust probably pushed the flapper up again the housing. So its not helping spool up but is still an obstruction to high end flow. Either get rid of it or hook a vacuum line post intake manifold up to it. And the s5 doesnt not have a twin scoll at all. Its non existant. I hope that helps
