Swaybar - Front Only?

I believe I read on a random post or two that some people only use a front sway bar? Did I read this incorrectly?

I'm getting ready to purchase swaybars and endlinks and I'd like to know the benefits of a front swaybar only vs front and rear.

Yes I searched =)

yes there are people i have heard that run with only one sway bar. I was looking into upgrading the real to stiffen up the rear for better drifting. BUt that is my view

As a very general rule of thumb, adding an anti-roll bar (sway bar) will stiffen that end of the car, thereby reducing grip at that end. So, if your car oversteers, (back end slides out) in hard cornering, you could add an anti-roll bar to the front (or upgrade to a thicker bar if it already has one) to REDUCE grip (you read that right) at the front end. That would help to neutralize the handling, because the front end would now grip less than it had been before, meaning that the front and rear would tend to slide more or less the same amount at the same time. (If you get the bars thicknesses right. Good luck!) The are other factors that come into play of course, but bear in mind that adding a bar reduces grip at that end of the car. If the car understeers (front end slides in cornering) you'd want to add a bar at the rear, or remove the bar from the front.

Its a more common thing on 1st gens to pull the rear stabilizer bar. The 1st Gens seem to respond well to having the rear loosened up a bit. Im not to sure about an FC however.....but Ive got a feeling given the independant rear on the FC, losing the rear stabilzier would hurt handling more than benefit it.

For no rear bar, most of those running like that, it'll be for a track or race car with stiff springs. It'll only work properly with correct spring rates.
