Swapping a TII drive train into an N/a

Ok I am going to help out a friend with putting in the TII drive train into his 88GXL form an 89 TII. The question is what flywheel/clutch combo does he need?? N/a or TII?

well are you keeping the n/a tranny? usually "drivetrain" means the tranny as well.. so if you do have the T2 tranny use it as well with the flywheel.. id you do not have the T2 tranny then you are going to have to use the clutch and flywheel from the newer 89.

He is going to put in the TII tranny aswell. So that means that he should use the TII clutch/flywheel?

You might make sure he just has to change up through the flywheel. He might need a little farther, but not sure. haven't searched in a while.

He will need the TII flywheel and starter to match/bolt-up to the TII Tranny. PP and Clutch need to match to the tranny also. John

This has also been covered countless times before, and is easy to find via the search feature.

I believe I read that an automatic tranny driveshaft will bolt up, but is about an inch shorter. So if you dont mind a the driveshaft having an inch less of contact area on the tailshaft of the tranny, than use it. If you dont want that chance, youll need to use the TII rear end and halfshafts.
