Swapping calipers.......

Hey all, Well I have know for about a month that my pass. side frint caliper is stuck and draggin on the rotor. I have a GXL for a parts car and I want to switch the calipers. I have a haynes at home and could probably do it myself. I want to make sure they are the same caliper. How hard is it to remove the caliper? Should I buy some new brake pads and change both sides?

Removing the brake calipers is pretty straightforward and simple. Just be sure you don't puncture the lines while working on them/ changing them. Also, yes you should change pads together from both sides, or you might get uneven pull from either side when braking which is a major problem

You could check into som aftermarket pads as well. I use Axxis metal masters, and I've heard that Hawk's street pads are pretty good too.

I am surprised that you actually asked this ?. I figured with all the other stuff you did it would be no problem.
But to answer your ?, its striaght forward(sp) just take the wheel off an dyou will see which bolts to take off. And as far as the calipers being the same, they are as long as they are either both 4 pot or both 2 pot calipers.

hehe. I know this is making me look nubeish. lol I just never messed with the brakes before.(on an FC at least) I just want to make sure I don't waste time taking them off and not fitting. I hope that fixes the problem. My right side vert wheel gets really dirty if I neglect to clean off the brake dust. :-/

Thanks for the info guys.

A 4 piston caliper has a larger brake pump system than the 2 piston calipers. Make sure you just swap out calipers with the same amount of pistons so you don't run into any problems.

Go ahead and get those SS and clean the brake system out.
