Swapped Tranny...now problem is....

After installing a tranny, I went for a drive. The gears shift good and no problems seen here. But when im in neutral, usually if i move the shifter left or right, it bounces back to the middle. THe right does this but when I move the shifter left, it stays there. Im hoping that the "spring" is just missing but how could i fix this problem? Just makes it hard to shift fast because the gears are not directed to the right place sometimes and causes a miss shift. Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You'll get used to it- my spring's been missing since I bought mine back in '99...It's there on my spare tranny, but it doesn't bother me enough to worry about it...

I took one look at it on the spare tranny, and decided not to mess with it- it wraps around the shifter well "block" like a big paper clip, and looks to be a PITA to remove and put on another shifter. That's just me though, if it ain't broke, I don't play with it...
