Swap 88 tail lights for 89

Can the 88 tail lights be swapped with 89 tail lights. I like the look of the rounder lights. Has anyone done this.

Yes they can. they bolt right on, but you need to trim off some of the metal behind the lights though, or bend it atleast. Youll know what im talking about it you get them

Maybe it was done before you got them.

You either need to get teh 89 style license plate surround, or trim your '86 style one to fit.

get the license plate hold from the 89+ and you will be able to mount an 2nd gen light without any cutting. I got a set a couple years ago and my drivers side S5 tail just got some condensation bc of a bad seal...so the S4's are on again anyone have a mint driver's side for me to buy? I actually like the S4 lights on now bc it's such a vidsual change but eventually I want the S5's on (for some reason the S4 lights make the bodykit a little more muscular, prolly bc they are 80's and all straight edges). The S5 swap is great though, 20 minutes and a deep 10mm is all you need!!
