Suspension upgrade questions on 88 T2

Hey guys, I am thinking of doing the suspension upgrade eventaully. What do you guys use? I am thinking of Tokico shocks. Front & rear sturt tower braces with new Z rated rubber. What has worked for you? Whats the best value & bang for your buck?
Thanks & happy Rotoring!

shocks and springs are good but I'm left wanting more. I'm hopefully going to get some ground control coils overs ($400) with new shocks ($400-600) and front camber/caster plates ($300). I already have a rear camber link.

www.ground-control.com

I also want front and rear strut bars (cusco) and a lower bar, either cusco or mazda speed. www.corksport.com or www.rx7.com

bushings will also make a huge difference on cars these old. I'm going to order up a bunch of stuff from mazdacomp before the spring time comes. front and rear control arm bushings, soild rear toe bushings, front diff mounts, tranny mounts. (already have the motor mounts) all the bushings are 40% stiffer then stock. none of this are very much $$ but alot of work to get in. www.mazdamotorsports.com

I also want to pick up some bigger sway bars. either RB, eibach, or ST. don't know yet.

also don't forget about the brakes. get a nice set of pads all around like hawk hps. some SS brake lines are nice too.

and of course tires are very important. they help you brake and turn. don't cheap out here. there are lots of good ones. just do some research for the type of driving and weather you have.

and if you're crazy you can pick up some yoko A032r's. they will only last about 6 mouths but will out grip anything on the road. I'm thinking about them for next summer.

none of these are really needed on a street only car, but make it really fun

I have tokico HP's all around and Eibach prokit springs and i have to admint they are a bit too stiff. My friend has a set of Racing beat springs and i think that for an Auto-X, Drag strip, daily driver they 're the best all aronnd.. I would have used the coil over set-up but it would bump me off street prepared.

SCOTT 89T2....Thank you for the urls that I have bookmarked for future use. Helps a lot. I just in the last three weeks put on the 87turboii the Tokico non-adjustables http://www.mazdatrix.com/h2.htm and the Eibach springs today. Too early to tell how I really feel about it . The shocks are a bit stiff, but not enough to discourage me. Mr Richard Head (nickname Dick Head) owned the car before me and ran the suspension into the ground. The shocks were completly dead and the springs defeated. So its hard to make a comparison with a stock turbo car. My 87NA feels better(stock suspension). If I was'nt so damn cheap I shoulda bought the KYB adjustables. Eibachs seems to be a good choice but did not lower my car do to Dick having already lowered the car by driving the springs into the ground.

I just got a custom CO kit from ShockTek with Bilstein shocks. These should be sweet on our Project 86 =) Now I can throw on Hoosiers and not rub without spacers anymore!! Yeah!

Good stuff guys! I plan on using mine for 95% street use so while I do like a stiff suspension, I don't want it to be a pain in buttarooski! ha ha...Anyone else?

Best "Bang for the Buck" package. Based on initial investment, performance, fitment and replacement tire cost.

RB sway bars
RB springs
RB toe-eliminator bushings
Tokico "Standard" non-adj. shocks
17X7.5 wheels in +35mm offset
215/45's

(DON'T skimp on the tires! - you get what you pay for)
I would recommend Toyo Proxes T1-S. (I've had Pilots, P-Zeros and AVS Intermediates)

I also am using the Shocktek Bilstein shocks and struts. these are a great race track setup, but are way to low and stiff for the street. they have been much better than the Ground Control Koni's used on our other race car.
