Suspension for 1988 AE?

quick question...
what was the stock suspension on a 1988 10th anniversary edition? was it adjustable w/ ABS? not adjustable w/ ABS? adjustable w/o ABS? or just ABS?

thanks in advance!!

The 10th Anniversary had the "hard" suspension, NO auto-adjusting suspension. ABS was an option, but most 10th's I've seen didn't have ABS.

I'm assuming you're trying to get a part for your car and they asked you that - what are you trying to get?

BTW, the auto-adjusting suspension was ONLY on the GXL's in the US. It was on the higher-end models in Japan.

Strange.
All the CDN AE's I've seen had ABS.
And even my 87 TII had the AAS!

Different markets I guess...

Check to see if your car has ABS - that's the big factor. If you do, there will be a BIG pump with brake lines coming to/from it on the passenger side of the engine bay near the firewall.

If you have AAS, you will have a switch in the center console to pick between normal and sport suspension modes - I doubt that, though.

I highly recommend getting a new Mazda part as well - I've had bad luck with cheap rebuilt master cylinders.

That's odd - are you sure the '87 TII had AAS? That may be a Canadian market thing or something. I know the '87-88 TII's in the US had the electrical plugs there for AAS.

Again, the ABS was an option with the 10th Anniversaries, but *most* I've seen didn't have it, but I do seem to remember seeing 10th Annies with it.

Again, it could be a Canadian thing.

But my current 87 TII has the AAS system buttons with the normal and sport settings. I don't have the OEM suspension anymore though, so its disabled.

Anyways, you guys own AE's, so you're the experts!
