Surge of power around 5500rpm
I noticed that when im accelerating sometimes, mostly in 2nd and 3rd, once i hit 5500ish rpm I get a vtec feeling. I feel the car accelerate a lot faster from that point. I know our peak torque is around 5k, but would it really give that feeling of being pushed into the seat? I have a 91 n/a. I notice it when I'm just accelerating in those gears, not WOT.

Just because I don't want to make a new thread, since I've made millions already. Does anyone know what these two plugs do.

And lasty, how difficult is it to install cruise control on a 91 rx7 that didn't come with it from factory?

So it's 100% normal? I quite enjoy the feeling, but was just making sure I wasn't low on power before then.
, vdi (variable dynamic intake) , look it up.

first pic is AAS(auto adjust suspension connector).
second pic..diagnostic..(if you are worried it has to be hooked up..don't..It's OK..)

Also if youve got a haynes manual, it has a good diagram of the airflow before and after the vdi opens. Although it does seem weird that yours has a surge of power, mine is just smooth through the rpm range. If gou havent yet, verify that your 5th/6th ports are working. Real easy just smear some grease on the actuators where the rod at the top comes out of, go for a drive and beat on it, and see if the grease moves at all. If it doesn't, dont sweat. Just pm me and I can take you through step by step how to make them smooth as silk again
The grease trick doesn't work on S5s. The actuators push out instead of pulling in like on S4s. At idle, you can power the 6PI solenoid on the rack. The relief or switching solenoids may have power at idle; you can easily check with a multimeter, and then swap plugs to see if the actuators move.
But I do agree that it shouldn't feel that noticeable. When I had S5 manifolds on my S4 NA, VDI just smoothly extended the torque curve.

best you can do to get that feeling is a K&N drop in for the stock air box and the, expensive but worth it because you drive a non turbo rx-7, Racing Beat true dual exhaust system. you tune that with a Rtek 2.0 or the $100 to 75 cheaper and not as well SAFC-3.
You should get a distinct kick at 5500 when the VDI changeover kicks in. It does seem more noticeable if you have a freer-flowing exhaust (I have a K&N drop in as well, but I assume that provides only an incremental power increase.

I have an hks cone filter and a custom exhaust, albeit a cheap custom exhaust done by Midas. It sounds incredible though, no drone, but sounds great at wot. Bought the car with both installed.

Could anyone link me to a write up or post on what/how to do/remove the AUX sleeves? Do I remove the UIM or do I need to remove the LIM to get to the sleeves and clean everything? Also, how long does this job take. I have work and college most of my time, so I can't have my car taken apart for a day.

It's incredibly noticeable. I feel like I have no power until they open. I may just buy the atkins sleeves and slap those in and see what happens.
