is this a sure sign they are clogged???

before i go with the rb presilencer and downpipe, i wanted to make sure my cats were clogged and i was fixing the problem. i am pretty sure the pipe before the first cat is not supposed to glow red hot, and i just wanted to get a second opinion. before i spent the 300 bucks and didnt fix my car being extremely slow and getting about 6mpg.

WOW, ive never gotten beneath my car fresh after running to see red hot cats... mine gets REALLY hot to the point the floor boards and shifter heat up VERY hot (wonder if im in a similar boat with my probs) .... the cats need the heat to work, but red hot sounds pretty bad.
does yours have hesitations??

yeah thats what the problem is, it hesitates and revs extremely slow and can max out at about 80 in 5th.

btw its normal for your shifter to be somwhat warm.

alright well i took them off for a test and just ran the exhaust out the manifold. i went for a loud *** 5 minute drive. it seemed faster without the cats, but not as fast as it originally was with them not clogged. i know my 5/6 ports werent working because it was disconnected, but it seemed slower before 4k too. is that normal just because i have no backpressure.

will having no backpressure make my car slower than before? even before the aux ports are supposed to open?

i think the shifter gets hot because its directly linked to the transmission, and the transmission is getting very hot...

no they are normally connected. only when i disconnected the cats to test it, they werent connected because the cats were off. but the car also seemed slower before 4k, when they would not be open anyways. so i am wondering if my car has another problem.
