me personally I would try to leave them functioning, but I have not gotten that far into mine yet. Have maintenance issues to iron out first. But I would say try it with them working and see how it runs. I do not think that it would hinder it at all, but I could be wrong.

What the hell is the point of saying you removed the air pump? You removed one and installed a bigger one. They work off of positive pressure, just run the SC pressure into them so that the SC opens them.

Just use a solenoid to activate them with a simple bleed, this will prevent them from locking when the solenoid closes, and from having 'excess' pressure buildup.
Putting a roots on there would really help minimize the need for the 5/6 to open later on, as it would MORE then make up for the bottom end torque...
I made up for lack of bottom end torque a different way myself....

You would want to leave them hooked up running off of pressure from the blower. When you are just cruising and the supercharger bypass valve is open, the ports stay closed. This helps you with fuel economy when off boost. It is so simple yet so incomprehensible.
Superchargers are only gay to those who don't like them. Most people on this forum are pretty closed minded followers though so it is to be expected. Go for it. It's your car. Do what makes you happy and screw everyone else. If he doesn't have a huge budget and doesn't want 400+ hp, there is absolutely nothing at all wrong with it.

I think there was a write up a while ago to put the 5th and 6th ports on a RPM switch instead of going from the air pump. why don't you use one of those setups to keep them closed so you keep the very bottom end and then open up when the supercharger start to needs that extra flowing ability. so you don't hurt performance with them in there and help your bottom end. never done it so just a thought
