I"m new as well
I dunno if any "seasoned veterans" are readin this but I don't own an RX-7 yet. I'm lookin at one that's sittin at 75,000 miles, engine rebuild 5,000 ago (by the owner, not a shop), 6000 bucks. I like the car. Lots of aftermarket including a 30" intercooler, Apexi SAFC screen mounted below the deck, short shifter, exhuast, etc. The problem is, all I hear about 2nd gen RX-7s is ****. I hear they blow seals all the time, that you have to drop 250 every time you want the compression and seals checked, etc. Just a ton of ****. I'd like to call it all bull but everyone I'm talkin to says not to buy one. Have any of you experienced problems like these, and if so, are they so expensive that the car isn't worth having on a college budget?

that's a pic. I'm shitty with links. Anyway. let me know what you think and the more opinions the better.

They do not blow seals all the time if the rebuild job was done right. Additionally, you have to take care of the car such as changing the oil regularly, radiator flushing and so on. One thing to keep in mind is an overheated rotary is usually dead so keep your cooling system in good repair.
As far as turbo models, make sure you getting adequate fuel and not running too lean. An AFR gauge will help you keep an eye on things, but that is not a substitute for a good tuning session with a wideband. As mentioned before, do some searching. A good place to start is "reliability mods" or something along that line.
