Question sunroof stuck shut

My sunroof has been stuck shut ever since i got it (a few months ago) i have looked at other threads and havent been able too find any good remedies for my situation. I think that the car sat for a long time before i bought it, if that helps any.
The problem is my sunroof is stuck shut, i can hear the motor trying to open it, but it will not open and if you try to open it with an allan key it will not open you can not even turn it, it seems to be seized or something, so i took off the headliner to try to see if i could see anything, but you can't seem much, does anyone have any ideas of what i could try, I dont really want to take the whole thing out because you know it will leak when i put it back in, or is not that hard? Any advice would be great, thanks.

Motor or cables. Sounds like you're best luck is to get a working entire assemnbly including rails and bolt it in. I have a couple here if youre interested, one I tested to work like new yesterday. $100 plus shipping with panel(black).

Try the allen key again, it should work if you push up towards the back of the sunroof panel as you turn the key.

What is this allen wrench/key thing everyone is talking about? I've never noticed/seen any such thing, and my sunroof is stuck and I want to see if I can't bust it open. Where can I find it, any pictures of it, and is it possible to break something by turning it?

look up on the cailing just behind the sunroof and there is a little cirlcle plug thing the same color as the ceiling, pop that off and you can see a spot to stick an allan key into.

Ya you should be able to just push the sunroof up from the back part of it anyways, at least mine you can. I have the same problem except I got it open before but had to do most of the work to do it. Think I need a new cable on one side and to clean it all out. Was wondering how to do it really cuz its hard to get to all the ****.

What is the factory recommended grease?

I need to tune my sunroof up, what is the proper lube to use?

What points to lubricate?

Yeah, I am wondering about this as well. Someone said something about degreasing the arms and rails. Isn't this bad since there is nothing helping the thing along, like say GREASE!? Oh well, just some general help, the s-roof will move but it is damn slow and it needs some help more often than not

I bought my car from my neighbor who was a jerk and let it sit for 2 YEARS in his driveway! So i had numerous problems to deal with it right from the start. The sunroof being one of them. It was more of a two man job really. Use the Allen key to start it and push from the inside. Once its well out of the car and up I was able to use the power button to open it. But shutting it, I used the button again until it tried to get back in. My buddy had to push down from above while I turned the key. Its a bitch but once its up and out, make sure its a sunny day and clean the crap out of it. The only good part about my car sitting in my neighbors driveway is that they didn't drive it so I got it with 66,000 miles!

Well I'l try opening it with 2 people and see if that works if not it looks like i might have to pull the whole damn thing out, any suggestions on doing that like putting it back in without leaking and what you would use to seal the thing to the car, I live in WA so it rains like 9 months of the year, so leaking is an issue.
