Sunroof motor and headliner

Ok so my two feet that fit in the sunroof tracks are totally lopsided. The left one is about 3cm behind the other one. The shop I usually take my car to suggested to remove the headliner and adjust it at the sunroof motor. I'm willing to do this, but can anyone give me details on what to expect when I get to the motor. What should I adjust to even out the sunroof? Also any tips on taking off the headliner? I've never done this before. What trip pieces do I have to remove, and how is the headliner attatched? Thanks.

the only way i could see that happening is if 1) teeth on the sunroof motor gear are missing 2) some teeth on the chain/wire thingy that move are messed up or 3) if someone F***** with it before and screwed it up. but anyways...

it remove the headliner you have to pop off the covers of the small screws that hold the front and rear mouldings on. then unscrew them. pop them off, they are held on by clips, a clip puller from autozone is great for this. then take off all the plastic interior pieces that are touching the headliner. also remove the sunvisors and dome light/mirror. also around the rim of the sunroof opening there is a fabric strip that covers the edge. you just have to pull it off. under that there are some metal pieces that fold over, just pull those off as well. then there are plastic screw/clip things that hold the headliner to the roof. unscrew and remove those and the headliner is off the roof. lastly remove through hatch.

once you have it off the motor is removed with i think it was 3 screws. after it is out you would be able to adjust the sliders.
